Amongst the wealth of different VPNs, FastestVPN stands out from the crowd – not least because of its enticing name, with its promise of a speedy connection. Although FastestVPN is not the most established name in the market, it has nevertheless grown in reputation and user base since it was first offered around three years ago.

Introduction – Quick, Simple to Use & Secure

The company, which is based in the Cayman Islands, state that they have created their product with the assistance of IT specialists and experts. Their goal is to ensure that accessing a VPN – and subsequently browsing the web safely and securely – is as seamless as it can possibly be; simplicity and accessibility are a clear focus, making the product suitable both for those using a VPN for the first time and those looking for their first-ever VPN app.

In designing their service, FastestVPN have clearly sought to appeal to as many different users as possible. Offering up to 10 simultaneous connections, Split Tunnelling, and compatibility with a range of devices, it immediately eliminates many of the restrictions often found with other VPNs. What’s more, FastestVPN’s commitment to their “zero logging policy” is impressive, and has earned the service many plaudits from particularly security-conscious users who find the promise of no recorded connection or activity logs reassuring. The same users should also find themselves reassured by the 256-Bit AES encryption, as well as the  “Internet Kill Switch” that is included in all packages: in the unlikely event the FastestVPN connection fails, the internet connection immediately breaks so as to protect data and browsing activities – a very nice inclusion.

While FastestVPN might not be the most recognisable of names, it is nevertheless clear that the company behind the software take their role as providers seriously, and that they have brainstormed to create a product that genuinely has something to offer to everyone. To find out more about FastestVPN and how it stands up to our scrutiny, read on for our full review of the service provision.

FastestVPN: How Expensive is FastestVPN?

FastestVPN has gained a significant amount of attention from its promise of a VPN subscription priced at just $0.83 (£0.67 at the time of writing) per month – and there’s no doubt that this price is outstanding. As one might expect, there are a few catches: you have to commit to a five-year plan, and you’ll have to pay the full amount upfront in a one-off payment of $49.95 (£38.31). However, if you’re looking to make a long-term choice and capture an outstanding price, then the five-year plan is absolutely worth considering – especially as there’s a 15-day “money back guarantee”, so if you change your mind, you should be able to receive a refund.

Outside of the five-year plan, the costs are also reasonable. The annual and triennial plans also offer good value at £1.91 and £0.85 per month respectively. However, as with the five-year plan, you’ll need to make an upfront payment for the full term in order to access the discounted price – so, for example, the annual plan is a single payment of $29.95/£22.97, rather than a monthly debit of £1.91. Alternatively, you could pay monthly: this is the most expensive option at $10/£7.67 per month, but this is fairly comparable with other VPN services and thus remains a decent price if you’re hoping to avoid a long-term commitment.

Overall, with a number of different options available and the particularly-impressive value found in the five-year plan, we believe there’s no faulting FastestVPN when it comes to price.

What Regions are Covered with FastestVPN?

FastestVPN has servers in 30 different countries; we have outlined the exact countries available below. Admittedly, 30 is not a particularly large number compared to some VPN providers – but it’s important to note that FastestVPN definitely cover all of the most commonly-used options, plus a few more besides, so most users should find the 30 offered are more than sufficient for their needs. If, however, you do need to use servers located outside of the listed 30 countries, FastestVPN do allow you to request a location via their website; there’s no guarantee that requests will be met, but it’s worth giving it a try.

Here’s the full breakdown of the server locations FastestVPN offers at the time of writing:

North and South America

Brazil; Canada; United States of America.

Europe

Netherlands; Austria; Bulgaria; Czech Republic; Finland; France; Germany; Italy; Luxembourg; Norway; Poland; Romania; Russia; Serbia; Spain; Sweden; Switzerland; United Kingdom.

Is FastestVPN Reliable? – The Public Opinion

Reading through the VPN reviews to glean an understanding of users’ perceptions of FastestVPN tends to result in a very simple conclusion: users – and professional reviewers – are, in general, fans of the service. There are several factors that are mentioned positively; the fact that a subscription allows for ten simultaneous connections is often praised, and the “Internet Kill Switch” is also a big favourite.

In addition to these comments, FastestVPN also receives positive reviews for the basic nitty-gritty of the service: for example, the company promises 99.9% uptime, and reviewers tend to agree that this is realised. Customer support also fares well amongst reviewers, as does the low price, with the five-year plan and the savings it offers receiving appreciative feedback from users.

The most significant criticism we noticed when reviewing the reviews relates to speed – which is somewhat surprising, given the name of this particular VPN. Servers located outside of Europe and the USA/Canada are, according to users, slower than one might hope – still more than usable, but not necessarily the quickest available. It’s important to note that this kind of issue is fairly common and most VPNs will see variable speeds depending on server locations, so FastestVPN is far from alone in experiencing this issue, but it’s still a factor to keep in mind. However, if you’re happy to use US/UK/Canadian servers, then the connection speed should be more than suitable for your needs.

As a result of our research into the reviews of FastestVPN users, we can happily conclude that this product is very well-regarded and performs well when tested in real-world conditions.
